Attack on Ablution facilities in UK prisons

Esther covers an interesting report from the Daily Telegraph about Wudu facilities in UK Prisons.

Apparently, Matthew Elliot from the more appropriately termed Tax Avoiders Alliance is upset that taxpayers are funding these footbaths, shower and toilet so that Muslims in Canterbury Prison, Kent, have ablution facilities prior to prayer.

The Tax Avoiders Alliance in my opinion are a right wing outfit who largely promote a right wing agenda. Their relationship with the media is not often highlighted. What they do with their selected friends in certain newspapers is get the press to request an FOI on a particular subject then in best Blue Peter traditions have a quote on the result of the FOI already available.

For their information we Muslims also pay tax and you don't speak for us Elliot.

Libya

London Muslim was shocked at the Lockerbie atrocity and for those of us who live in London still has not forgotten the appalling murder of PC Yvonne Fletcher shot for simply doing her job outside the Libyan embassy.

However, today's news about vile New Labour war monger Jack Straw who is shamefully elected by Blackburn Muslims like Lord Patel and the continuing controversy over the conduct of the Lockerbie trial by the likes of Dr Jim Swire who tragically lost a daughter at Lockerbie, is I believe leading to the reputation of a growing Muslim nation and its people being dragged through the mud due to the publicity surrounding Al Megrahi's release.

What is not well known in the West and in particular the UK is the remarkable progress being made in the welfare of Libya's people since Colonel Gadaffi repaced King Idris another western installed tyrant. Colonel Gaddafi has never been given the credit he and his government deserve for the peace, stability and fair distribution of wealth Libyan people enjoy as a result of Libya's approach to Socialism. The Libyan Government ploughs its national wealth into is people for their improved welfare.

Unlike other African countries whose people starve Libya is a growing oasis of prosperity which has been held back by western embargoes.

London Muslim wishes Libya and its people well and looks forward to it becoming a rapidly prosperous Muslim Nation.

Mourinho claims he was misquoted over Ramadan attack on Muntari

London Muslim previously wrote about the Special One and what appeared to be a reported attack on his own Inter Milan Muslim player Sunny Muntari for having a poor game - apparently due to his fasting over Ramadan.

However, Mourinho in a bizarre attack on the media claims his words were misquoted and said to reporters "if anything happens to me it will be your fault".

London Muslim wonders if the Special One is a bit concerned about this report which claims his life has been unfortunately threatened for the "insulting" words thus accounting for his sudden conciliatory tone towards Muslims.

Would not surprise me in the least if Muntari plays in the Milan derby tomorrow.

Saudi Prince survives suicide attack

Ironically the Saudi Minister responsible for their counter terror strategy narrowly survived an assassination attempt on his life.

London Muslim is currently reading the The Siege of Mecca about the rather hushed up attempt to overthrow the House of Saud. My interpretation of recent events in Saudi is that the royal princes days are numbered and they should start considering exile in the riveria.

The opposition to the House of Saud is often portrayed as Militants and Al Qaeda vs Moderation which is a huge misinterpretation and oversimplification of rapidly growing unease at the behaviour of certain members of the royal family.

Saudi Arabia as part of its campaign to clean up the Internet has launched Naqa Tube which bans images of women and Music.

I've had a look at Naqa Tube which appears to be entirely in Arabic and simply has content of the House of Saud and loads of blokes with beards.

While London Muslim sympathises with the thinking behind the need to protect youth from inappropriate sexual images etc I'm afraid I doubt Saudi youth, from what I can see of their behaviour here in London over the summer, are going to be that interested.

Does Israel harvest organs from executed Palestinians?

Recent allegations by a Swedish newspaper that IDF soldiers harvest the organs of dead Palestinians once they execute them have led to a storm of protest by Israel about the accuracy of the report.

Queen Rania of Jordan

Arab Muslim Heads of State come in for a lot of stick. They tend to have the kitchen sink thrown at them as unelected, unrepresentative western puppets lining their own pockets. The Saudi's in particular get it in the neck although a lot of hostility is personal drivel by people with a none to subtle agenda against Muslims. First Islamism then Islam.

However, Queen Rania of Jordan (yep the good looking one who doesn't wear a hijab) is currently enjoying a delightful holiday in Italy with her hubby the King. London Muslim wonders before she chose the location if she came across this story in Italy where they have just banned the burkini.

Moreover, Her Maj Rania has also twittered about having an exquisite lunch with no less than the President of France Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni. Now forgive me but was this the same Sarkozy who spoke about banning the Burkha and that the veil "was not welcome" in France.

The Jordanian royal family have a lot of influential supporters in the British Establishment partly as a result of the military links between Sandhurst and Amman and also because of our colonial legacy. Moreover to be fair Jordanian royalty have traditionally been proactive on the philanthropy front and London Muslim has a lot of time for Crown Prince Hassan.

However, this Rania Dame who despite her Youtube channel challenging western stereotypes about Islam is nevertheless still managing to do my head in. London Muslim is not particularly exercised with her famous shopping trips in the west or her friendship with western celebrities or her general western couture elegance which is far more palatable at an Englishman's dining table. However, when she and her old man take a holiday to Fascist leaning Italy then compound that mistake by chilling out with Sarkozy while remaining almost silent about the inhumanity carried out by Israel on her fellow Palestinians her priorities need to be questioned. Remember the Shah of Iran, his Peacock throne and all that jazz.

Westfield London Shopping Center

Just visited that hideous temple to consumer capitalism the Westfield shopping development in West London.

As my regular readers will know I've made a considerable deal over the number of Arab shoppers who are in London spending away and keeping the London retail and hotel trade in business.

London Muslim can certainly confirm the Arabs are here from what I witnessed in Westfield and unlike other window shoppers these guys are spending if the designer bags they were carrying was anything to go by.

However, bearing in mind it's Muslims that are spending I walked over to the concierge section (or for the rest of us the information section) and asked about prayer facilities.

The concierge mentioned there is a "quiet room" which they don't like to call a prayer room and when directing me to where it is politely told me they as in Westfield "don't make a big deal out of it".

Apparently after some further enquiries with local Muslims who have dealt with Westfield, London Muslim understands that Westfield have been obstructive to local Muslim requests for appropriate faith provision in order to cater for Friday Jumma. Westfield's obstructiveness is something all Muslims may want to bear in mind when spending money in Westfield.

Ex wife started Kuwait wedding fire

Following the appalling news about the loss of 41 women and children's life's in a tent in Kuwait during a wedding the story has taken a gruesome twist.

Apparently, the ex wife of the groom has "confessed"to starting the fire as an act of revenge for her ex husband's "bad treatment of her".

London Muslim is of the view, assuming the confession is true that this sadistic cow deserves an appropriate punishment.

David Milliband defends "Terrorism"

In a remarkable moment of perhaps off guarded honesty the British Foreign Secretary David Milliband appeared to justify "Terrorism" in certain circumstances.

Asked by Matthew Parris in the context of South Africa if there were circumstances in which violent reaction or Terrorism were the right response Milliband said

So there you have it in a nutshell from no less than Britain's Foreign Secretary "violence" and "Terrorism" are legitimate tools in armed struggle against oppression and occupation.

Mandelson meets Gadaffi while on holiday

The BBC seem a little upset that the Prince of Darkness met Colonel Gadaffi's son while on holiday in Corfu.

As a result the BBC appear to be attempting to make a tenuous connection with the possible release of Lockerbie convicted bomber Al Megrahi on compassionate grounds. This clearly is the silly season. Have a think what influence does one of the architects of New Lab the Crab Mandelson have with a SNP government north of the border who have ultimate responsibility over Al Megrahi's possible early release.

London Muslim is more concerned Mandelson stayed as a guest of the Rothschild's a family of bankers after the mess Banks have recently caused.

The Burkini and the Daily Telegaph

The Daily Telegpraph has an article by Patrick Sawer which is a classic Islamophobic filler.

First, grainy picture of what appears to be an unhappy Muslim wearing a burkini. Any idea who she is because Patrick Saywer fails to mention her in his article. Moreover, the picture of the woman in Sawer's article is not the same woman "Carole" who broke the story. Have a look at the picture of Carole here and make your own mind up why Sawer did not use her happy photo.

However, Mr Sawer does refer to a corporate Lawyer in his article by the name of David Toube along with his son Harry who were apparently excluded from a swimming pool because they were non Muslim. Interesting, could this be the same David Toube who runs that vile and vicious anti Muslim blog known as Harry's Place? Again Sawer fails to provide context and inform us of who Toube really is but clearly tries to imply with the "corporate lawyer tag" that he is just another ordinary Joe.

I think we can all judge Sawer's agenda. Whatever it is its certainly not about being an objective jouranlist re Muslims when your article takes a lead from that well known shyster David Toube.

Muslims in Catholic Schools

The Daily Telegraph has an article which refers to a survey highlighting the number of Catholic schools where Muslim students outnumber Christians.

London Muslim opposes all faith schools in the UK. They are divisive and segregate kids from an early age on the basis of Religion which is storing up a huge time bomb in this country. I wonder what Jim Fitzpatrick's views are on segregation in faith schools? The Religious industry and establishment need faith schools to perpetuate their existence. What we should be doing is bringing kids of all and no faiths together in good State schools where they develop friendships and understanding of different communities from an early age.

Anyway, I slightly digress, what of course the survey does not mention is the other side of the story where Catholic Schools do a remarkable job, particularly in London of excluding Muslims.

For example take two Catholic schools in West London. Sacred Heart in the borough of Hammersmith where that well known Hammersmith resident Blair sent his daughter, has an admission criteria which proudly states,

no application from a non Catholic family was successful last year. This has been the case for many years.

The London Oratory also in the borough of Hammersmith (where Blair sent his son) has an admission policy which like Sacred Heart accepts applications from non Catholics as a last resort but I'd hazard a guess (although I'm happy to be corrected) there are no Muslims in the London Oratory.

My point about the survey which perhaps Martin's article could also have pointed out is that it only paints a limited picture and omits to mention Catholic schools in areas with a large and growing Muslim population who directly or indirectly have admission criteria that excludes Muslims.

This is the same Murdoch Fox "News" where Glen Beck said Obama is a "racist" with a "deep seated hatred of white people". Advertisers are now deserting Fox News in significant numbers.

Murdoch is bizarre, he picks up a Mail Order bride from the Far East something a lot of old white men seem to do particularly after a visit to Thailand and then allows his hate channel to launch provocative insults at black people, Muslims, Latinos, Gays etc. Oh, but of course not Jews.

London Labour MP attacks segregation at Muslim wedding

Jim Fitzpatrick MP for Poplar and Canning Town has criticised his Muslim constituents for requesting he observe a custom of males and females not mixing.

With approaching half his constituents Muslim its interesting how Fitzpatrick, part of the white male establishment in the London Labour Party I wrote about yesterday chooses to attack his Muslim constituents rather than understand their practices and customs

London Muslim does not find the timing of this attack a coincidence following the expulsion of Muslims from the London Labour Party. Moreover, it appears Fitzpatrick may be giving up on the Muslim vote who are lining up behind George Galloway and attempting to appeal to the dwindling white working class vote.

My message to the huge Muslim community in Poplar and Canning Town don't you think you would be better served by having a MP who sympathetically understands and supports his or her constituents rather than attacking them?

The Evening Standard has an interesting article about a Muslim woman in France banned from her local swimming pool for wearing a burkini.

Carole who reverted to Islam wore the three piece outfit which does not reveal the body but the local swimming pool apparently claimed it was a "hygiene " problem. Yeh right.

Tory Foreign Policy and the Muslim World

William Hague the Tory Shadow Foreign Secretary recently gave an interesting if not well publicised speech on the Tory approach to Foreign Policy at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

London Muslim found the speech an interesting adaption from Lord Palmerston, a previous Tory Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister who spoke about "enlightened national Interest".

Hague, who in 2006 described Israel's brutal assault on Lebanon as "disproportionate" something shamefully the Labour Govt under Blair refused to do devoted a significant section of his speech to the Muslim world.

While I disagree with his view on the need to maintain a British Military presence in Afghanistan the tone of the speech appeared to contain less imperial hubris than the Blair years although that's not difficult, slightly less interventionist and certainly more pragmatic. A Tory Govt would work with Muslim countries, as Hague put it, "in Foreign policy, idealism must always be tempered with realism, even those countries, like many of the Gulf States, which are making democratic reforms will do so at varying paces and sometimes over an extended period"

William Hague is not a Michael Ancram who before announcing his retirement called for an engagement with Hamas however, he is also thankfully not a Neo- Con like Michael Gove whose dual loyalty to Israel is well known. As a result it's interesting to note the mischievous recent remarks by George Osborne and possible future differences about Tory Foreign Policy which was picked up by both Paul Waugh and Michael Crick.

Dalawar Chaudary and Cllr Zulfiqar Ali are two established Muslim community leaders in London. Dalawar hails from Southall & Zulfiqar from Newham.

Imagine my surprise when news reaches London Muslim that Dalawar was deselected by the London Labour Party following unfounded allegations surrounding a family business he is involved with. As a result he has been removed by the London Labour party from the Local Government panel meaning he no longer is able to stand for Labour in the Southall Broadway ward at next years local elections.

Zulfi an elected councillor and member of the party for decades and a magistrate has been a pillar of the community in East London with a reputation for being fair minded, loyal and sincere to Muslim causes domestically and internationally. Zulfi seems to have come up against a powerful white Cabal who seem instrumental in getting him removed from the long list and therefore he will no longer be able to stand in the LB Newham next year.

Deafening silence from the London Labour establishment ie Ken Clarke the regional Director, Sir Robin Wales, and senior MP’s like Stephen Timms. Let’s not mince our words a huge number of white Labour councillors and MP's hold their position on the back of the Muslim vote in London. The White London Labour party hierarchy have traditionally looked upon the Muslim vote as the dog that never barks and thus our vote has perpetuated the largely white established status quo.

However, increasingly the perception amongst Muslims is that Labour in London wants our vote but are not prepared to reciprocate by awarding Muslims with positions of authority within the London Labour party or safe seats. No doubt the spin masters at Victoria Street will trot out the same old tired example of Sadiq Khan and Rushannara Ali the candidate in Bethnal Green. Frankly that’s superficial window dressing when you consider the size of London Muslim population.

Enough is enough. London Muslim can exclusively reveal that Dalawar Chaudary will stand as an Independent at next year’s local elections in Ealing for Southall Broadway ward not as a Muslim but as an Independent representing all faiths. What Southall Politics needs is less of the established corrupt political system and a genuine independent, willing to bring a breath of fresh air into the stale dirty politics of Southall. London Muslim has no doubt Dalwar will win comfortably.

In addition, London Muslim urges Zulfiqar Ali not to allow the old white guard to push long standing Muslim councillors out, but to also join the fight back by standing as an Independent in the LB Newham which I understand he is seriously considering.

My advice to Ken Clarke: As you have failed to get a grip, presided over a hammering in the 2006 elections, and will preside over a drubbing in 2010 please do the decent thing by standing down as regional Director. You have lost the confidence of Muslims.

With the removal of Ken Clarke, what London Labour needs is an early decision on ensuring Ken Livingstone as our candidate for the 2012 Mayoral election which we also lost on Ken Clarke’s watch and a clean sweep of the old guard from the regional office in Victoria Street.

Konnie Haq goes to Bangladesh

Ms Kanak (aka Konnie) Haq has written about her recent visit to Bangladesh as part of the UK Foreign Office "Projecting British Muslims".

Lets hope she managed to avoid another Wardrobe malfunction.

However, on a serious note it's good to hear Konnie describe herself as "British, Bangladeshi & Muslim". That's a slight change from her previous description as a "relaxed muslim".

While Konnie was in Bangladesh I'm not sure if she also expanded on her views about why as a Muslim she thinks its appropriate to take her clothes off however, now that she is part of a UK Foreign Office campaign she may also like to enlighten us on her views concerning UK Foreign Policy in the Middle East. American Jews turn against Israel

Unlike British Jews, American Jews of Conscience have become increasingly alarmed and vociferous about the Settlement activities of the Israeli Government led by those two psychos Netanyaboo and Lieberman - who has been compared (in Israel) to the Austrian Fascist Haider. The recent vicious evictions in East Jerusalem being the latest example.

This phenomenon of American Jews becoming alienated from Israel was officially recognised by no less than an Israeli diplomat in the United States Nadav Tamir reported here in Haaretz. Apparently, in a secret internal memo he said "the public spat with the U.S. over the issue of a settlements freeze has alienated a significant number of American Jewish supporters".

Well for speaking the truth the diplomat was summoned to the Lierberman bunker and told to resign.

An excellent report by the New Local Government Network (NLGN) has called on the Government to scrap the Prevent Scheme because it is alienating Muslim communities and urged a new focus all on extremism including the recent rise of the far right.

UK soldiers dead in Afghanistan (196)

Another British Soldier has been killed in Afghanistan taking the number killed to 196.

Next of Kin have been informed.

The number of civilians killed in Afghanistan's worsening conflict jumped 40% to a new high last year. A record 2,118 civilians died from violence last year, up from 1523 the previous year.

Next of kin have yet to be informed.

Black and White unite against Fascists in Birmingham

London Muslim conveys huge respect to the Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, and people of no faith who stood firm against the Fascists trying to march in Birmingham yesterday apparently against "Islamic Fundamentalism".

The truth behind the demonstration was this was a march by a bunch of pissed up intellectual trash looking for a fight now that the football season has started.

History teaches us from the Fascists marching against the Jews in Cable Street, to the defeat of the National Front in Southall in 1979 as well as more recently in Burnley and Oldham you cannot allow racist scum to feel secure roaming the streets spouting their vile hatred against minorities.

London Labour Zionist watch (Lucianna Berger)

Lucianna Berger is a well known Zionist who has supported the cause of Israel for many years and is currently the Director of the Labour of Friends of Israel. Moreover, on her website Ms Berger has, as one of her "favourite sites" the Neo-Cons at "Harry's Place", which currently has an article running saying "the Quran is a problem"

Imagine my surprise when I establish that Ms Berger is the Labour Party candidate for next years local elections in the London Borough of Camden where she is standing in St Pancras and Sommers Town ward. According to the 2001 census the ward has a Muslim population of 22.9%. The Jewish population is 0.8%. What on earth was the Camden CLP thinking of when it selected her and where were the Muslim members of that branch on the night of her selection?

Interestingly, the Camden Labour Party fail to mention the word Israel on their website promoting Lucianna Berger. Guess what they say, "Lucianna is Director of an organisation concerned with Middle East Policy".

Recently, Councillor Syed Hoque resigned from the Camden Labour Party and joined the Lib Dems citing as one of his reasons the Labour Govt's silence on the massacre of Palestinians by Israelis in Gaza. London Muslim disagrees with Cllr Hoque's decision as I believe he should have fought his cause within the Camden Labour group and help keep the likes of Berger out. However, as a Muslim I salute you Sir for putting the people of Gaza first.

London Muslim urges Muslims in Camden and more widely in London to be aware this is how Zionists begin their journey into Parliament, ironically on the back of Muslim votes. When asked by the Daily Telegraph how she responded to predictions of one day being a future Prime Minister, her response was "yes, I'm ambitious".

Lets hope all the Muslim organisations, community centres and Mosques in Camden have a healthy debate about the merits of being represented by the likes of "ambitious" Lucianna Berger.
